DETAILS OF EVENTS
We are making a regular Practical Conversation event the third Saturday of every month. Tasks on the reserve such as hedge laying, tree whip protection at Hicks farm, bramble bashing, and path improvements. This is the opportunity to keep the reserve in shape and get fit by joining us in fun tasks.  Everyone is welcome for however long and will be supplies with approperate equipment by the countryside team. This has proved to be successful on other  reserves.   Refreshments and home made snacks provided, wear suitable clothes and stout shoes.  Meet at the Barn.  Please ring if inclement weather to check its going ahead - 01202 535140

Monday Morning Meander at Stour Valley

Stour Valley Local Nature Reserve  23/01/2012 (10:00-12:00) A gentle wander round the reserve with Richard Hesketh, meet at the car park. £2 per adult

 

 

Monday Morning Meanders - Stour Valley LNR (Wilderness Way)

Date 02/04/2012 (10:00-12:00) Stour Valley LNR (Wilderness Way) All meanders start at 10am, and last between 1.5 and 2 hours. There is no need to book - just turn up. Cost £2 per person.

 

River Critters

Date 04/04/2012 (10:00-12:00)  Stour Valley LNR  Guided event for children finding out about the creatures living in and by the River Stour.

 

Bird Song Walk

Date 28/04/2012 (07:30-10:00) Stour Valley LNR  A guided walk listening to and learning the songs of native and migrant birds

North Bournemouth Area Conservation Volunteers is a new group being set up by the rangers, meeting every Wednesday starting on 28th September at 9.30 please contact James on (01202) 535140 or james.boyland@bournemouth.gov,uk 
 

All tasks start at 9.30am and finish by 3pm. Volunteers may finish at lunchtime or stay for the whole task.

Please wear sturdy footwear and be prepared to get muddy. Work gloves will be provided.

Tea and coffee will be provided. Bring a packed lunch if you intend to stay for the afternoon session.

Tasks may be subject to change (on the same site as advertised) and may be cancelled in bad weather – if heavy rain is forecast please call the rangers’ office before 9am to check that the task is going ahead.

  
 
 Dorset Wildlife Trust are also running conservation tasks on the Hicks Farm end of the reserve, various saturdays starting at 9.30am and SVS members are welcome to assist.  Please contact Richard Hesketh  if you wish to help and to find out which dates they are down there.

* Please note that for conservation tasks all volunteers must have completed a Countryside Volunteer Application form.  Volunteers must be 18 or over.  If parents wish to bring children they may do but THEY REMAIN THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN. Tasks may have to be cancelled in bad weather or unforeseen circumstances, please phone the Rangers Office on(01202) 535140 to check the task is going ahead before you set out.  We will provide a risk assessment and Codes of Practice, which you must read and abide by before starting a task.  We recommend you ensure your Tetanus injections are up to date. You may also wish to consider Hepatitis B Vaccination.
